 Resist the urge to plop down on the ground – your legs   will stiffen up right away if you do.  Walk around for at   least 10 minutes to bring your heart rate down safely     and avoid the risk of blood    pooling in your legs.

 You will need something to eat for your recovery meal.  Choose some thing with protein and avoid sugary drinks and foods.

 Change your clothes as soon as possible.  Including your socks and shoes.

 Finally, you need to take time to enjoy the accomplishment of completing a marathon.  

Again, always remember to consult your orthopedist prior to starting any exercise program.
